Three of them at once, forty minutes offshore, and nobody on the boat had seen it before.
We were following a storm-chasing crew who normally work on land. The sequence that opens the film was not planned and took eleven seconds to set up.
Everything is shot at 300mm from a moving deck. The instability is not a style choice.
