Poaching pressure changed the animals’ schedule long before it changed anyone’s policy. Most of what we filmed happens between dusk and two in the morning.

We worked at very high ISO with almost no fill, which puts the film somewhere between observation and guesswork. The rangers set the pace and we followed.
